'PlivaTri' is a floating triangular pavilion anchored off the coast of Rijeka, conceived as a modern-day temple in the sea. Designed to counter the lack of comfortable public beach space, it invites visitors into a sensory dialogue with the water, city, and port. Its geometric form contrasts the organic flow of the Adriatic, while its open centre and surrounding walkway offers space for swimming, lounging, or gathering in reflection. Built using sustainable materials like recycled gallons and ropes and designed with participatory design techniques, 'PlivaTri' merges environmental consciousness with Rijeka’s industrial heritage. As the sun moves and the wind stirs the ropes the pavilion becomes a living structure, shifting in mood and lighting throughout the day. More than a platform for play or pause, 'PlivaTri' is an invitation to reimagine the edge between land and sea.
Year:
Contribution to Development
Since 2019, I consistently joined international design and construct workshops like MEDS, as an active participant and national contact, always drawn to hands-on roles. I was always part of teams building complex wooden pavilions, engaging in tasks from designing to final assembly. These intense, collaborative settings taught me how to co-create, adapt on-site, and explore sustainable materials. For years, I wanted to become a tutor. This year, I finally stepped into that role together with two fellow designers from my masters and a previous MEDs. I developed skills in budgeting, organizing, planning all the activities needed for the workshops and workshop facilitation. Building the pavilion helped me develop my woodworking skills while seeing the challenges arising while bringing a design to life. Overseeing a feasible project helped me develop my leadership, communication and collaboration skills.
